Safety Students Receive Scholarships

Thursday, April 25, 2019

IU Safety Program students Dana Hildebrand, Carolyn Moore, Isabella Byers, Kelsi Finch, and Graham Turner have been awarded over $5000 in scholarships from the Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals during the 2019 Indiana Safety and Health Conference in February.

Rick Ruble, the Indiana Department of Labor Commissioner, was also recognized for his support of the IU Safety Program and for his leadership to protect Indiana workers through advocacy, public policy, and other legislative initiatives. “Commissioner Ruble has been instrumental in developing innovative recruitment and retention strategies between the Indiana Department of Labor and Indiana University’s Safety Management Program,” said Dr. Kevin Slates, Safety Unit Chair.

The Safety Management Certificate Program from the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington is a one-year program of study designed for the practitioner who is interested in gaining general safety and health knowledge combined with specific expertise in health care, homeland security, or process safety education. The Certificate in Safety Management is most often pursued while completing a baccalaureate degree; however, it is possible to apply for admission to this certificate program as the sole academic objective.
